RLM shades, vaportights and dock lights for the parts of a warehouse people work close to. Configured and built to order by Bock, headquartered in Twinsburg, Ohio.
The right warehouse lighting fixtures depend on ceiling height and what happens under them. In clear-span racking aisles 25 to 40 feet up, a DLC-listed LED high-bay is the right tool. Under about 25 feet, in mezzanines, pick modules, shops, showrooms, offices and at the dock doors, a spun RLM shade on a stem or cord puts light where people work and looks like it belongs in the building.
Walk into an old brick distribution house at 6 a.m. The roll-up doors are open, the forklifts are warming up, and a line of dome shades hangs from the trusses over the packing tables, each one throwing a clean circle of light onto the work. That is where the RLM shade came from, and it is still the best fixture for the parts of a warehouse that sit within reach.
We build those shades to order in Twinsburg, Ohio. The Standard Dome comes in 8 to 20 inch sizes and is cULus listed for damp and wet locations. The Deep Bowl concentrates light for aisle and task work, and the fluted Radial Wave is the classic 16 or 20 inch warehouse shade. We don't make high-bays, and we'll tell you when you need one.

Most warehouses are several lighting jobs under one roof.
This is high-bay territory. Aisles need 15,000 to 40,000+ lumens per fixture with narrow aisle optics, occupancy sensors, and usually DLC listing to qualify for utility rebates. Our shades top out around 5,000 lumens per LED module, so they are not the right answer here. Specify a high-bay and put our fixtures in the zones below.
Under a mezzanine deck or in a multi-level pick module, the ceiling is close and the work is detailed. Space 12 to 16 inch domes about as far apart as they hang high, and use 4000 K for accurate label reading. Pick a Deep Bowl where glare across the aisle is a problem.
Workshop lighting fixtures need more light at the bench than in storage. Close up the spacing over lathes, lifts and workbenches. For taller bays, the Industrialite takes up to four LED modules (up to 3,000 lumens each) in a large spun-aluminum dome with 0-10 V dimming.
Customers and staff see these spaces, so the industrial pendant lighting should look intentional. The BGL hangs on long stems in exposed-truss offices and comes in six finishes.
Use a sealed VP vaportight pendant, approved for locations exposed to moisture, corrosive fumes, non-explosive vapors and non-combustible dusts.
The DLL LED dock light swings into the trailer on a 42 inch arm. Over the doors and along the walls, the AWLH wallpack delivers up to 10,000 lumens.
| Racking aisles over 25 ft | LED high-bay with aisle optics and sensors (not a Bock product) |
|---|---|
| Mezzanines & pick modules | 12–16 in Standard Dome or Deep Bowl, stem or cord, 4000 K, spacing about equal to mounting height |
| Shops & machine areas | 16–20 in domes or Industrialite, closer spacing over benches, 4000–5000 K, wire guards |
| Offices & showrooms | BGL or Radial Wave on long stems, 3000–4000 K, brand-color powder coat |
| Wash bays & damp rooms | VP vaportight pendant, glass or Lexan globe, cast guard |
| Dock doors | DLL dock light on 42 in arm inside; AWLH wallpack over the door |

Get four things right: shade size, light level, mounting and environment.
As a starting point:
Check your layout with our mounting height calculator.
Typical targets, in the spirit of IES guidance: 10 to 20 foot-candles for bulk storage, 20 to 30 in active aisles, 30 to 50 at packing and shipping, and 50 to 100 for assembly, inspection and machine work. A rough count: foot-candles x floor area / 0.65 = lumens needed. A 20 x 20 ft packing area at 30 fc needs about 18,500 lumens, or four 5,000 lumen shades on 10 ft centers.
Anywhere a forklift mast, ladder or thrown box can reach, add wire guards and a glass or Lexan globe. Racking, conveyors and overhead doors shake the building, so use rigid stems with swivel canopies, tighten set screws, and add a safety cable where local code or your insurer asks for one. Open-top shades collect dust; plan to wipe them during regular maintenance, or use sealed vaportights in dusty rooms. Combustible dust (grain, wood flour, some powders) is a hazardous location and needs rated fixtures that we do not make.
Shades are powder coated in the color you choose, from safety yellow to your brand color. Our LED modules offer selectable lumens and Kelvin and 0-10 V dimming, so they work with occupancy sensors and daylight controls.

No. We build RLM shades, vaportights, wall and dock lights, not high-bays. For racking aisles with ceilings above about 25 feet, a DLC-listed LED high-bay with aisle optics is the right fixture, and any major manufacturer can supply one. Where our fixtures earn their place is below that: mezzanines, pick modules, shops, offices, showrooms and dock doors.
Send ceiling heights, the zones you need to light and a floor plan if you have one. We'll recommend shades, mounts and finishes, and tell you plainly where a high-bay fits better.
