Where is the driver located—inside the fixture or remote—and what are the differences between integral (LVXV) and remote (LVFV) driver options?
Driver location depends on the fixture and configuration. Bock offers two main driver mounting options: LVXV (integral driver mounted inside the fixture) and LVFV (remote driver that mounts in a junction box behind the canopy or remotely in the building). The choice depends on installation preferences, space constraints, and whether remote mounting is feasible at the site. Fixtures with emergency (EM) battery backup typically require the driver to be in a canopy or remote location—not integral. Some fixtures, like the LAC02, have the LED integral to the driver, while others (e.g., LVEV1) require the driver to be housed separately (e.g., in a BCW6 ballast enclosure). Always specify driver location requirements when ordering, as not all configurations support both options. For example, certain small fixtures may not have room for an integral driver, and high-output or EM-equipped fixtures often require remote mounting.
